French Onion Tartlets

This year has flown by! I'm not sure how we're already preparing for holiday meals and the start of 2024  but it's that time of year again. This appetizer was incredibly easy to put together and we ate many of them straight off the pan. This is something that could be put together for any party and is sure to be a hit. Mixing in the cream cheese helps make the french onion flavor mild and enjoyable in a one bite appetizer.

Recipe from Girl Versus Dough

Ingredients:
-4 tablespoons butter
-2 medium yellow onions, finely chopped
-Salt and pepper, to taste
-1/4 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
-1 tablespoon dry white wine
-4 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
-1 egg, lightly beaten
-2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
-2 packages (15 count, each) Athens Mini Fillo Shells

Preheat the oven to 350F. In a skillet over medium heat melt the butter and add the chopped onions. Cook for 10 minutes until softened. Add salt and pepper. Continue to cook the onions for another 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, before adding fresh thyme leaves. Cook for 10 to 15 more minutes until golden brown and then add the white wine. Cook for 3 more minutes. Add the cream cheese, lightly beaten egg, and parsley and stir until the mixture is well combined.

Fill each fillo shell with about a tablespoon of the onion mixture. Bake for 15 minutes and serve topped with additional herbs.
