Apple Pie Pizza

This apple pie pizza is a nice dessert recipe, it's still summer, but this brought a taste of fall to the summertime. The dessert isn't too heavy and would be good served after any light summer meal. Or save this recipe for later this year after apple picking!

Recipe from Dessert for Two.

Ingredients:
-Refrigerated pizza dough
-2 small granny smith apples
-¼ cup + 2 tablespoons brown sugar, divided use
-½ teaspoon cinnamon
-3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided use
-2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-⅓ cup powdered sugar
-1-2 teaspoons milk

Split the pizza dough into two equal sized crusts. Form a "crust" edge. Bake at 400 for 5 minutes.

In a skillet add the apple, ¼ cup of the brown sugar, cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of the butter and saute until the apples soften and have a slightly sticky sauce (a caramel type sauce).

While the apples cook mix together 2 tablespoons of butter, flour, and the last 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. Use your fingers to pinch together the ingredients to form a crumble.

Top the slightly cooked pizza dough with the apple and then the crumble. Bake another 5-10 minutes. While the pizza is baking mix together the powdered sugar with milk. Once the pizza cools slightly, drizzle the glaze over the pizza.

Dave and I enjoyed this apple pie pizza after a small pasta dinner. The pizza paired well with a nice white wine. I was very happy with how this turned out, it was sweet, but not overly sweet. The apples added a nice freshness to the dish.
