Pear and Bacon Pizza with Balsamic Drizzle

This is the 800th post here at Vegetarian & Cooking! I can't believe how close I am getting to my 1,000th post, I will need to start planning something spectacular for that recipe. To see other milestones, please check out the "Milestones" tab above.

This pizza was a mix of several things that we had in our fridge, it seems as though we always have pizza dough. Maybe that is a weird kitchen staple, between the bizarre fruits and cheeses that I have on a regular basis, pizza dough is probably the next oddest thing that I purchase every week.

A Vegetarian & Cooking! original.

Ingredients:
-1 refrigerated pizza crust
-1 pear, sliced thinly
-2-3 slices of vegan bacon, cooked
-1 tablespoon butter.
-1 tablespoon flour
-1/2 cup milk
-Salt, a pinch
-Pepper, a pinch
-Parmesan cheese (3-4 tablespoons)
-1/2 cup mozzarella cheese
-Goat cheese
-Balsamic syrup

Press out the crust on a pan and bake for 7 minutes at the temperature recommended.
Meanwhile, in order to create a sauce for the pizza I made a bechamel. Melt the butter in a saucepan, add in the flour and stir well to incorporate. Add the milk and bring to a boil, stirring frequently. When the mixture has thickened into a sauce, stir in the parmesan cheese and season with salt and pepper.

Remove the crust from the oven and spread on the sauce.

Top with mozzarella cheese, pear slices, chopped vegan bacon and crumbled goat cheese. Bake an additional 8 minutes or until crust is golden brown.

Serve with a drizzle of balsamic syrup.

This recipe turned out great. The vegan bacon added a smoky/salty element to contrast the sweetness of the pears. The balsamic drizzle added a nice contrasting color and with the goat cheese added a tangy element. Overall, this was a great recipe for dinner and the slices which I ate for lunch were also good reheated.
