Caramel and Chocolate Saltine Bars
We've made some other types of bars like this in the past, like Christmas Crack, Valentines Crack, and Halloween Crack. This one was a little different because instead of just using chocolate as the base, this used crackers. It turned out really well this way.
This recipe is from Table for Two.
Ingredients:
40 saltine crackers (1 sleeve)1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped almonds
Spread out the saltines on parchment paper on a cookie sheet. |
Melt butter and brown sugar. |
Boil three to five minutes. |
This was about when took it off the stove. |
Spread the caramel over the crackers and bake at 400 for 5 minutes. Melt chocolate in a bowl, and spread the over the crackers. Crush almonds and sprinkle on top. |
Let cool and break apart. |
