Caramel and Chocolate Saltine Bars
We've made some other types of bars like this in the past, like Christmas Crack, Valentines Crack, and Halloween Crack. This one was a little different because instead of just using chocolate as the base, this used crackers. It turned out really well this way.
This recipe is from Table for Two.
Ingredients:40 saltine crackers (1 sleeve)
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter
1 cup dark brown sugar
2 cups chocolate chips
1/2 cup chopped almonds
|Spread out the saltines on parchment paper on a cookie sheet.|
|Melt butter and brown sugar.|
|Boil three to five minutes.|
|This was about when took it off the stove.|
|Spread the caramel over the crackers and bake at 400 for 5 minutes.|
Melt chocolate in a bowl, and spread the over the crackers.
Crush almonds and sprinkle on top.
|Let cool and break apart.|
