Ingredients:
-Sub rolls
-16 ounces of mushrooms, sliced
-1 green pepper, sliced
-1 onion, thinly sliced
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Garlic Aioli
-Sub rolls
-16 ounces of mushrooms, sliced
-1 green pepper, sliced
-1 onion, thinly sliced
-1 tablespoon olive oil
-Mozzarella cheese, shredded
Garlic Aioli
-3/4 cup Miracle Whip
-3 cloves garlic, minced
-2 1/2 tablespoons lemon juice
In a small bowl whisk together the ingredients for the garlic aioli.
Heat the olive oil in a skillet and saute the onion and green pepper until tender. Then add the mushrooms, cook until reduced. Spread the aioli on half of the sub roll and add the veggies to the other half. Top with mozzarella cheese and toast until the cheese is melted.
This was a good sandwich. I've never had a Philly cheesesteak, Dave said it doesn't quite measure up to the original. However, he said it was an incredibly filling and satisfying sandwich. I thought the garlic aioli helped to add an additional depth of flavor to the sandwich and that overall it was a success.
