White Christmas Sangria

This delightful combination of sweet and savory is the second part of my Christmas dinner. The sangria starts out sweet, but the rosemary helps to cut through the sweetness to prevent this from tasting saccharine sweet. The adorable garnish makes this extra festive.

Recipe from Cooking Stoned.

A Hamless Holiday
Snowman Cheeseball
, appetizer
White Christmas Sangria, drink

Ingredients:
-1 granny smith apple, diced
-1 braeburn apple, diced
-1 heaping cup fresh cranberries
-1 large sprig rosemary
-1 bottle pinot grigio
-½ cup white grape juice
-¼ cup sugar (more, for garnish)
-1 can club soda

In a large pitcher combine all of the ingredients. Stir thoroughly to dissolve the sugar and put in the fridge to chill.

Once chilled, run a piece of rosemary under cold water, shake to remove the excess water and then dip into sugar to coat the rosemary to give it a snowy effect. Garnish each glass of sangria with a piece of "snow" covered rosemary. Enjoy!

Dave and I both enjoyed this. The sangria wasn't too sweet and didn't have too strong of a rosemary flavor, however, the savory rosemary flavor did help to tone the sweetness down. This was light and refreshing, perfect for a Christmas meal.
