Doughnut Grilled Cheese
This is it....the best thing I have ever eaten. If I were guilty of any of the seven deadly sins, it would definitely be gluttony based solely on how much enjoyment I got out of eating this sandwich. One wasn't good enough, I made two for myself. And then I made this multiple more times for other people in my life in order to "test" the recipe to ensure perfection.
You probably think that Grilled Cheese Month has pushed me over the edge and that the creations are getting too crazy. Just trust me on this one.

Ingredients:
-1 tablespoon each olive oil, for frying
-1 glazed doughnut
-1 tablespoon softened butter
-1-2 slices cheddar cheese
Gather some glazed doughnuts. |
Slice them all in half. |
Build the sandwiches with the glaze side on the inside. I used one slice of cheese per sandwich. |
Heat oil in a skillet and slather butter on the outside of each doughnut. Cook one to two minutes until the cheese is melted. |
Serve immediately. |
I'm not sure if its the original, but they definitely have these at Tom+Chee in Cincinnati. I have never ordered it but now I might have to...
ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment Steph. If I'm ever in Cinci, I'll have to check it out!
