Football cupcakes
I'm not much of a football fan, but since a lot of other people I know are, we have a lot of football watching parties. I don't like football, but I like to serve food to people that come over, this way I can make something during the game. These were perfect, because they were so cute and could be used for any type of game you are watching.
This idea comes from Cakewalker.
Ingredients:
-chocolate cake mix (plus eggs and oil)
-cream cheese frosting
-green food coloring
-chocolate covered almonds
Bake the cupcakes and let them cool.
Mix some of the frosting with the food coloring. Put the frosting in a piping bag, with a tip with a few holes.
I put mine in the refrigerator for a few minutes because when I first started the frosting ran a bit. Of course then it was too much, and too cold to get out of the bag, so just wait for it to get to the perfect temperature to make the grass.
I did some as long stripes. |
Some I made smaller tufts, I think that worked better. I got the end to the cupcake and lifted it up as I went. |
Use another piping bag with a single small hole with white frosting. Make yard lines and numbers. I used this to make the design on the football too. |
The almonds worked really well to look like footballs. It took me a few tries to get the hang of it, but then it was pretty easy and they all looked nice. I used mix since I was already making other food for guests, and when I am making some other special design, I usually cheat and use the mix since they are already custom and homemade.
