Spinach Feta Puff Pastry Bites
This was an easy appetizer to make, and easy to make for a crowd. The filling was pretty tasty and went well with the puff pastry.
This recipe is from Dave Lieberman on the Food Network website.
Ingredients:
-1 10 oz package frozen spinach-4 oz crumbled feta cheese
-2 Tbsp cream cheese
-1 piece of puff pastry
-2 cloves garlic
-2 cloves garlic
-Pepper
-Nutmeg
-Flour
-Flour
Roll out the dough so it is thinner than it was, about twice as big if you can get it that big. |
Mix all the other ingredients together. |
Cut the pastry into squares, about 2-3 inches. Put spoonful of filling on half the pastry. Use water on 2 sides of the pastry so it will stick when you fold it over onto the other side. |
Bake for 15 minutes at 375. Serve warm. |
This made about 20 bites. The original recipe did not have cream cheese, but when I was making the filling, it seemed like a lot of spinach and wasn't creamy enough. When I make things with feta or blue cheese, I like to add cream cheese to make the flavor a little less strong and to make things more spreadable.
Maybe because I added the cream cheese, but this made a lot more filling than I could use to fill the pastries. You could probably do 2 sheets of puff pastry with this amount of filling.
