Apple and Walnut Pancake Topping served with Brie

I have a confession to make...I have a bad habit of leaving Food Network on the tv while I'm doing my reading for class -- unproductive, I know. That's where I first saw this tasty recipe, it comes from the Colossal Cafe in Minnesota and was featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. I know the recipe sounds weird, but as soon as I saw this on DDD, I knew that I had to find a recipe for it.

This specific recipe comes from Tasty Kitchen and is just for the pancake topping, so whip up your favorite pancake recipe and spoon on some of this awesome pancake topping. This is perfect for your next Sunday breakfast because it is something that your family hasn't seen before!

Ingredients:
-1 whole Granny Smith Apple, Peeled And Sliced Thin
-⅓ cups Packed Brown Sugar
-¼ cups Real Maple Syrup
-1 Tablespoon Honey
-¼ cups Walnuts
-Dash Of Cinnamon
-1 Tablespoon Heavy Cream (optional)
-2 slices Brie Cheese

Mix up your favorite pancakes, as many as  you want.
You can put the topping on many stacks or on one.
Mix all ingredients except for the cream and brie in a saucepan, heat on medium  until apples are soft.
Once the mixture is thoroughly heated, add a little cream if desired, stir until incorporated.
Spoon the topping over the pancakes.

Make sure to pour a little syrupy goodness over the  pancakes.
This made easily enough for three stacks of pancakes.
Top with slices of brie and serve.
Enjoy for every meal!

This recipe was one of the best recipes we've ever made, I easily ate my entire stack or pancakes and all of the toppings that tried to escape. It was so delicious, the topping itself was the perfect amount of sweet and cinnamon, the apples were warm, but still a little crisp. The brie was a perfect substitute for butter, it was subtle and creamy, do not skip the brie when you make this!

If you're having company over for breakfast or if you want to wow your family, this is the way to do it. You cannot go wrong with this topping.
