Baked Orange French Toast

I am always looking for new breakfast recipes because that is the meal that we are able to make the most together. I made this recipe on a whim because I already had all of the ingredients in my kitchen and because J. is super picky so even with breakfast it's difficult to find recipes that he will enjoy.

Recipe from Scattered Thoughts of a Crafty Mom.

Ingredients:
-7 eggs
-1/2 cup orange juice (I used the juice from 1 large orange)
-1/2 cup milk
-1/3 cup sugar
-1 tablespoon orange zest
-1 tsp vanilla
-1/4 tsp nutmeg
-8 slices of bread
-butter
-powdered sugar (Optional)

Whisk the first seven ingredients together in a large bowl.

Pour over your bread and soak for 5 minutes, turning once.
I used a 9x13 pan and a 8x8 to soak eight pieces of bread.

Put the bread on a greased cookie sheet covered in foil.
Bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes, flip and then bake for 10-12 minutes longer.

Serve with powdered sugar and syrup.

I have to be honest, I didn't love this recipe. The orange flavor was very pronounced (which is good since this is orange baked French toast), but I just didn't love it. J. on the other hand liked this a lot, he ate four pieces of it plus half of one of mine. If I made this again, I would cut the recipe in half and make it just for him.
